Give your computer
a second life

Windows 10 no longer gets security updates, and your computer may not be able to move to Windows 11. See it as an opportunity: we turn it into a durable, modern and secure machine — keeping the computer and habits you know.

Why now is the right moment

Since 14 October 2025, Windows 10 no longer gets security updates. And many PCs in perfect condition don't meet the hardware requirements of Windows 11 (TPM 2.0 chip, recent processor). Their hardware, though, is still perfectly good — it's the software leaving them behind, not the machine.

A free extension exists, but it only lasts a year (until October 2026) and requires a Microsoft account synced to the cloud. Rather than postpone the problem, give your computer a real, lasting solution — one that belongs to you.

Throw away a working computer? No.

A PC “too old” for Windows 11 is more than powerful enough for normal digital life. Throwing it away means:

  • Environmental waste — most of a computer's carbon footprint comes from its manufacture, not its use. Keeping it going is the most effective action — squarely in line with sustainable IT and the right to repair.
  • A pointless expense — buying a PC + licence while yours works fine.
  • A loss of bearings — especially for an older person, who would have to relearn everything on an unfamiliar machine.

Our solution: your PC, but better

We replace Windows with Linux Mint — a free, stable system that looks like Windows — with the NOLAM Adagio accessibility layer on top. On the same machine, your loved one gets a computer that's:

  • Safe and up to date for ~5 years — automatic, silent security updates.
  • Compatible with banking & government — Firefox stays current, so e-banking and official portals keep letting you in. No more “browser too old”.
  • Simple and legible — large text, visible cursor, uncluttered menus (senior / low-vision profiles).
  • Sovereign, no Big Tech — you leave Microsoft dependency at the very moment it drops you.
  • Your data kept — documents, photos, bookmarks: all backed up and restored.

Two ways to go about it

💬 Full transparency: Linux Mint and NOLAM Adagio are free. You pay for installation and support, and depending on the machine's condition a small hardware cost may apply — for example replacing an old hard drive with an SSD, which also makes it far faster. We tell you everything up front: no surprises.

And above all: you're not alone

Many people take up computing late, out of necessity: managing their bank account because the branch closed, filling in benefit or mandatory forms — often with no family nearby to help. That's exactly where NOLAM is different: behind the machine there's a real human contact, in Switzerland, and sovereign remote support if needed. We don't sell you a system — we make sure you never get stuck.

Frequently asked questions

My PC is too old for Windows 11. What can I do?

Instead of throwing it away or buying a new computer, we install Linux Mint with NOLAM Adagio on it. The machine becomes fast, safe and up to date again for around five years — on the hardware you already own.

Will I lose my files, photos and bookmarks?

No. We back up your data before any work and put it back on the new system: documents, photos, browser bookmarks. Nothing is lost.

Will my online banking and government websites still work?

Yes. These are websites: they open in Firefox, kept up to date for years. No more “your browser is too old” blocking you. Depending on your bank, confirmation is done via a mobile app, SMS or card reader — we check together that everything works.

Is it complicated? Do I have to relearn everything?

No. You keep your computer, and the interface is set up for you (large text, visible cursor, clear menus). For seniors, Adagio makes the screen legible and restful, with no jargon.

Isn't Windows 10's free extension enough?

It only lasts a year (until October 2026) and requires a Microsoft account with cloud sync — so even more dependency, just to push the problem back twelve months. Our solution fixes it for good, without Big Tech.

How much does it cost?

Reviving your own computer is far cheaper than buying a new one. Linux Mint and NOLAM Adagio are free; you only pay for installation and support. And it's the most sustainable choice: we throw nothing away.
